Equity of access

askmyGP deals with all patient demand, prioritised and managed on the basis of clinical need.

Equity of access is central to our approach. Allowing patients to submit requests online improves the efficiency of practices. We are acutely aware, however, that this approach should not create any form of digital exclusion. We have designed the system with this in mind.

Any route

askmyGP allows for requests submitted by telephone or a walk-in visit to be entered into the system by practice staff. Patients are asked the same questions as if they were completing the request online. This leads to consistency in information gathering. In this way, the system provides practices with a complete workflow solution and ensures equity of access.

Flexible according to your practice and patients’ needs

The system allows practices to work in different ways. This flexibility is welcomed by practices and can lead to some practices only using the system for online requests. What is interesting is that the number of these practices is falling, and we have seen practices who launched the online only mode move to ‘total flow‘.

This belief and the associated system tools are communicated in sales demonstrations and the training given to staff during implementation.
